Loaches and sand...

Post by Mark Janssen » Tue Oct 09, 2007 5:17 am

How badly do these nice fish need sand?

I'm thinking of only putting large pebbles in the tank with some larger stone and driftwood.

i want to upgrade the current in the tank to 2* aquamedic ph 2500 instead of one.

At the moment i only have one and having it halfway of my side window (in hight) it blows my sand to the other site of the tank.

I would say using sand is a personal preference as with small rounded gravel. Both are suitable for loaches and both will not harm the loaches. As long as there is no sharp edges on the pebbles/stones, then all is fine. I keep sand in some of my tanks and gravel in the others. It's a personal choice.
