HELP! - Weather Loach

Hi everyone,

Wicked forum you've got going on here. Really useful, I'm from the lazy generation so the answer to my question is probably in here somewhere. However, to those of you who have 19 year old lads you'll have heard, 'I can't be arsed'

Anyway, the mrs and I recently purchases a tank. She added the usual shower of shite in goldfish and rubbishy fluorescent things that no-one can see, yet I decided on this beautiful eel like fish that caught my attention.

After getting him home, settling him and naming him Frankie, everything seemed to be going fine. However, just recently he's started acting erratically, like swimming to the top and darting back down and not moving for an eternity.

I've heard that his species is nocturnal and extremely shy. I'm just wondering if there's anything I can do to make him a bit more comfortable, bearing in mind I'm on a shoestring budget.

I am a novice, but there are a few things to keep in mind. They like to be in groups. I have four and will get more in the future. I love them.

Mine aren't shy and not really nocturnal. They eat from my fingers and drape themselves across the ornaments and plants. My brown ones like to sleep under the gravel. I have to be careful when I am siphoning.

My gold ones are usually stretched out in the floating plants. I think of them as divas or puppies. Mine like to lie motionless and have me handfeed them bloodworms. They will sit still for days, and then fly through my tank as the weather has been changing alot in Florida recently.

Read the caresheets carefully, because all your answers are right there. I read them again just because the links were right there. Nice thing about this site that there are caresheets for almost every loach, and then kind fishkeepers who will also share personal experience.
