they are cute little barbs
how big do they grow to, and how many do you have?
i think you should pretend you never got an extension, and that you never built a 16 ft tank, when it happens, as we will all be insanely jealous. you will be inundated with requests for pictures and videos of it too. is the purpose of the extension to have a bigger tank?
maybe one day i shall be able to afford to build a "garage" and then afterwards explain why there are fish in it instead of cars

Thanks Hels.
Those P. narayani only get to around 3" TL and so even though they still have a good apetite, they will not have the sheer mass of the P. filamentosus. They seem to be doing a great job of encouraging the clowns out a bit earlier on in the evening, I do wonder if they had been a little bit intimidated by the old barbs which had no fear of anything and used to dive right in and steal food off the clowns at any oppportunity.
The extension is really supposed to be to give us more room - as you know our kitchen is tiny and narrow and there is no storage space in this house. But secretly (or maybe not so secretly now) I would rather it be carried out so that I can have a bigger tank for the loaches, than a new kitchen!

its amazing how quickly more space is used up
before Steve knows it, you will have a giant loach lake as well as a couple more tanks for more species
thats interesting that the clowns are more active with the smaller barbs. lets hope it stays that way, when they are over the excitement
