Did you state somewhere what equipment and settings you used to take those pictures? Great colour and depth of field - very impressive. And nice fish as well!

How big are they?

They range from about 7 to 10 inches total length. I have not accurately measured them but I get a good estimation of their length when they lay in front of the PVC pipes.

No I have not. I use a pentax k100d SLR with a few different lens. What makes the that dept of field possible is an external and powerful flash. The external flash makes it possible to stop down the lens.

Macro pics are phenominal with an external flash too. I soon... well, not soon but later, will get some macro pics when my loaches cooperate.

Excellent pics VM.

I still haven't managed to figure out the best way to go about taking fish pics with my external flash. I almost think I could do with more than one unit.

Are you using the external flash on top of the camera or held away (and if so, where abouts/what angle etc)?

Thank you Emma. Regarding the flash placement, I have the flash connected to the camera via a sync cord so that I can place the flash close to above the subject as possible. With the camera roughly the same height as the subject being 0 deg and vertically above the subject being 90 deg, any angle above 60 deg or so seems to give me the results I like.
I will be taking more photos of the beauforti when I get back from vacation in a week. He has fattened up and brightened up since I have my tank fully established now. I may not be able to check email or be on the internet where I am going for vacation.

Cool, I will wait to see the results, would be great to see the beauforti now that it's fatter and more settled.

Ok, its been over a week since I have been back and he has been shy and not eating as much all of a sudden. That pic of him being fat would have to be delayed. He was fat and had the appetite of a hungry healthy clown loach before I left for vacation.
