No, I can no longer make out that spot, and it has been at least 10 days or so since I last saw it.

I did catch a rosy barb flashing 2 days ago and I had to fight the urge to throw my shoe at the tank.

I'm carefully monitoring it and hoping it was something else that irritated him, like the TDS shift from the salt. The remaining Serp Tetra in the hospital tank is completely free of all of the nasty white spots he had.

Never saw ich being so resistant before. What is the salt dosage and water temperature right now?

I reduced the temp and started small water changes after all symptoms were absent for 3 or 4 days.

Only thing I can think of is that something was still there that I didn't see. As I mentioned a few days ago, I still saw the occasional "flash", just no spots.

I replaced about 25 gallons (in 5 gallon increments) so far. So if I want to bring the salt back up to full dose, do I just add enough salt to treat those 25 gallons?

By the way, is that typically what ich looks like? I swear, I don't think I've ever seen a 'confirmed' case of it in person. I always worry I'm misdiagnosing things.

I really can't tell from that video. It almost looks like the spot disappears when the tail is moved. I don't know if I'd take any chances though.

Here's another good article about ich and the salt treatment. http://www.badmanstropicalfish.com/foru ... pic=1285.0

This article mentions that one strain of ich can survive at 5 parts per thousand of salt. I think you were at about 3.2 parts per thousand of salt if the dosage you used was 2 teaspoons per gallon. If you have a TDS meter you can make a pretty good estimate of how much salt is in the tank right now. My guess is that the TDS meter will read about 2200 ppm (220 with the x10 flashing) since you done some water changes already.

You might consider raising the dosage and adding another teaspoon of salt per gallon, so that the dosage is 3 teaspoons per gallon. That should get you near 5000 ppm or 5 parts per thousand of salt. Or you can use the TDS meter and just add enough salt until you reach about 5000 ppm. Remember to add the salt slowly like before.

The spot does seem a little "big" for ich. It isn't really salt speck sized. Only other thing it seems to line up with is Flex, or some sort of fungus.

But given the flashing and the fact that salt cured the hospital tank fish, I'm not taking any chances - like you say.

I started a drip a few hours ago and hiked the temp. I should have it back to 2 teaspoons per gallon in 24 to 48 hrs and will see what happens before jacking it up further.

I hesitate to even post for fear of jinxing myself.

But the tank seems to have stabilized. I haven't seen flashing in about 10 days and all of the fish are active and happy.

This was just shy of a month at 2 tsp per gallon of kosher salt and 86ish temp.
