dojo loach...

Post by lunasmile » Thu Apr 13, 2006 12:13 pm

I just got a dojo loach today. it was cheap, I thought that she made a mistake b/c the price tag was not in the tank, it was only $ 2.99. well, any suggestions to take care of it?. It looks really scared, but I think it is normal for now... I will post pics in a couple days when it is more comfortable in the tank... :D

Your Dojo (Weather) loach is a temperate fish and as such will need to be kept at a temperature that is lower than the usual tropical temperatures. They need quite spacious aquaria (at least 3ft long, preferably 4ft long) as depending on the species, can grow up to 25cm+. They will also do best in the company of their own kind, so you should try to find your one some buddies. Keep them on a sandy substrate, as they do like to bury themselves fairly often.

Hope this helps,
Emma

you will be very suprised :o at how lively he is.they quiet for the first week or so. they are remarkable fish. they are sub-tropical as emma said.the temp should be from 19-23*c would be best. provide plenty of hiding places and plants. they like a flow in your tank. but not to much.
