thanx... the kuhlies are my favorite. i'm moving them to a bigger tank soon, but for now they r in my room so i can watch them while i fall asleep. i do 30% pwc at least weekly, although i've been doing them more because i just added some new babies and i like them to grow fast..lol...i feed them all flakes, shrimp pellets, algea wafers, peas, cucumber, zuccini and sometimes melons. And fresh shrimp....sometimes i throw in a couple live ghost shrimps and they love them... I also have a lung fish who's about 20" long now...btw the skunk loaches are not in the tank with my other loaches now, they killed one of my clown loaches and got themselves their own tank... that's 3 loach tanks now....does that qualify me as a loachaholic?

Nice pics. The fish look great. When you upgrade to the larger tank, please consider using sand for the substrate. I think it will be easier on their barbels, and kuhlis will often burrow, given the chance. You'll also get a bit more natural look to the tank, and you can use some real plants - which helps the filtration cycle.

A lot of people use pool filter sand - which I have in both my tanks. I prefer the look of sand to coloured gravel, but that's my taste only. Sand is just better for loaches.

That's wonderfully good to hear. :D

You never want to offend people over their choices - and so many tanks come as kits or hand-me-downs, that it's often not a "choice" anyway. I don't know who it was in the 60s and 70s who thought pink, green, purple, and two shades of blue might work...

I'm happy to see the hobby slowly moving toward biotopes and away from sunken pirate ships and that horrible gravel.

I rent a house and I spend a lot of time gardening. Obviously at some point in the past, an aquarium was kept in the house, because you can dig down - quite deep into the soil in some beds and find pink gravel.

It's spooky!
