loaches with synodontis eupterus?
are any loaches compatible with synodontis eupterus? thankx for the help
I have kubs in a 45 gallon (4' long) tank with Synodontis eupteris.
The Syno just hides in the cave all the time, I have a great veiw of his (her?) tail . When he comes out to eat he is large and showy.
The kubotai play around the lower half of the tank all the time, and are fun to watch. The two species never bother each other in this tank.
Other tank mates include:
African Brown Knife
Peacock Eel
several Rainbow fish
A couple of Barbs that are about 2" long
Liberty Mollies.
2 species of Cories
Water chemistry: KH about 8, GH about 5, pH mid 7s, NO3 is added for the plants, but the plants keep using it. I have a hard time getting it over about 5 ppm.
The substrate is Soil Master Select, not actually made for aquarium planting, but a nice substrate, anyway. The Eel buries himself in it, leaving an inch or two at each end sticking out.
Filtration and water movement is Fluval 404, Aquaclear Powerhead (The largest...802?) and a small bubbler.
Aquascaping includes a couple of large rocks with caves, driftwood and is heavily planted, including such a dense cover of floating plants that I have to keep thinning it out so some light gets down to the other plants.

38 tanks, 2 ponds over 4000 liters of water to keep clean and fresh.
Happy fish keeping!
