Suboccular spine!

Post by Keith Wolcott » Sat Oct 24, 2009 10:40 am

I got rather excited this morning when I for the first time witnessed a suboccular spine on one of my clown loaches. She was sitting on a piece of wood and all of a sudden I saw her extend her spine out and back in several times. She was not fighting with any other loach but it was like she was just flexing it a bit.

I also had some excitement when I spotted a baby fish in my river tank. It is about 4 mm long. The fish in there are Sewellia lineolata, Panda garra, and white cloud mountain minnows. I am not too excited since I think it is most likely a White cloud since it seems like it swims like a white cloud. I tried to get pictures, but they are all out of focus. I was able to catch it and put it into my quarantine tank so it is save from predators. I have looked for more, but I have not spotted any yet.
