Possible horse-faced loaches

Post by Noto » Wed Apr 28, 2010 6:12 pm

My LFS is offering some interesting loaches that I believe are some kind of horse-faced loach. They are labeled as "weather dojo loaches", which they are clearly not, and are only $3 each. I am strongly tempted to buy some but have no experience with these fish. I have read the Loaches Online species profiles for Acantopsis species but wanted to fish for more info.

Do they do well in groups? Also, what sort of sand do you use for them? Any other information on these fish would be appreciated.

Can you get a picture? There are two horseheads that look a lot alike and they are slightly different in temperment. I have mine in pool filter sand, well rinsed. THe only problem is that you usually just see eyes if you are lucky, because they stay under. If you find the dwarfs they stay out more.

I will try to get a picture. They are about 4" long and have rather deeply forked caudal fins, if that helps.

The face it helpful for identification, but I am not an expert. However, quite a few people on here have them.
