I have a sick Dojo Loach.
My tank is a 30 Gal and I have one lion head goldfish (about 1.5 inches long) and a new Dojo Loach (about 2.5 inches long). I bought this loach and another one from a trusted LFS with Healthy fish and have never had to problem with any fish from them before plus I went back to the store and checked on the loaches tank mates and they all seemed a-okay. About two days after I bought the two loaches one of them died without any sign of anything wrong with it. I had been checking the water quality because of the addition of new fish and everything had been reading fine and it is an established tank so I'm really not sure what happened. Also I have been doing small 10-15% water changes daily after the new loach died.
Tank info:
30gal
PH 7.0
Ammonia 0.0
N02 - 0.0
N03 - 5ppm
Well this morning I woke up and both my lion head and my dojo look to have some sort of fungus infection. The loach looked horrible, I have already made a huge attachment to this little guy and really want to do what ever I can for him.
Now this tank has had a fungus infection before when the tank was new with the lion head in it. I used Malfix and Pimafix for the 7 days and the fish still had the fungus so I switched to API Fungus cure and after the 4 day treatment everything seemed to be a-okay.
My question is can I use API Fungus Cure to help out my loach buddy? It contains Victoria Green B and Acriflavine. I know people often use a half dose of medicine when loachs are involved. Does anyone have any advice.
Thank you for you your help.
