New Tank

Post by Oscars+Loaches=Trouble » Sat Aug 26, 2006 2:57 pm

Compromising with my ever-persistant parents, I got a 54 gallon tank.
I did not have time to cycle it because of my parents misunderstandings, so instead I used the old water from the previous tank to fill it half way.

I'll have pics up soon.

The inhabitants are as follows:

1 Oscar (Gentlest cichlid I've ever had)
2 Plecos
3 Clown Loaches
1 Previously known but now forgotten loach (Searching)
1 Yellow Bullhead Catfish
2 Kuhli Loaches
1 Queen Loach

The loaches have ample hiding places among the rocks I've set up.
Proud owner of the most colorful "mutt" oscar in the world.

When was this done? (hopefully only hours ago...)

What you did is near-certain to kill most of your fish quickly. There is very little of cycling bacteria in the water.

Check ammonia/nitrites now.

If you still have the old tank, move the fish back before it is too late. If you still have the stuff from the old tank (gravel, sand, decorations, rocks, filter media) and it is still wet, move all of it into the new tank. Even slightly wet sand should be potent for a few days.

Tell your parents that well-being of the animals you are taking care of is important for you. And if they don't understand you consider returning the fish to the lfs before they die.

Good luck!

"Oscars+Loaches=Trouble" is KK Loach's other name (http://forums.loaches.com/viewtopic.php?t=1055) - search the archives for other mindless ideas involving fish e.g.: http://aquaweb.pair.com/forums/archives ... view=88715

If you have any respect for the fish that are in your care, you'll take them all in to the lfs now, meanwhile re-thinking what you are keeping together, and cycle the tank and re-stock slowly and properly.

Do you think there are any fish at all involved in this Emma?
Or, is this just someone who wants attention.
Whatever the case is, its very sad and pathetic.

KK, this is a real forum about real fish. We are not playing around. If you are, go play somewhere else. If you actually want to participate and learn, do something about the responses you get here. Because we are here to help, not be irritated by teenage idiocy.

We've had some conversations on the other forum and I'd like to give you the benefit of the doubt and help you with your aquarium addiction. However, I won't waste my time on boneheaded teenagers who fool around and end up killing fish because they won't take the advice they've asked for.

Best of luck with your 55.
