Sick Dojo loach - help please

Post by west05 » Wed Aug 30, 2006 5:54 pm

Hi

I have a Dojo Loach and I have just found him at the bottom of the tank struggling to move upside down with his mouth open. He seems very stiff as well.

I have moved him to another tank but does anyone have any ideas what this could be and whar I can do about it?

He is an albino and about 4" long. I have had him for a year and he has beel fine until now.

The tank is 35 litres.
All levels are fine but the Nitrate is a little high, 75mg/l

Thanks in advance

Martin

it's entirely possible he's injured himself - dojos jump, especially in small tanks - and that is a very small tank for a dojo. I'd guess it's a spinal injury, in which case you can't do much except keep him in excellent water conditions and hope for the best. You also need a much, much bigger tank. 35 litres is big enough for a couple of guppies :(

hope it goes well!
