Loaches for my 29 gallon tank

Post by jayfl234 » Sat May 19, 2007 12:25 am

I am waitinig for my tank to finishing cycling before i add any of my fish. I was wanting to put some loaches in my tank but unsure of what kind would be ideal. My tank will have 2 swordtails and 2 black mollies. Any suggestion would be great. Thanks a bunch. :D

What dimensions are the tank, jayfl234? Loaches in general prefer a larger footprint (length and width). Without knowing this, it would be impossible to advise. Ideally you would want to be looking at a tank around 3ft long for even the smallest loach species. Most also prefer water conditions that are slightly soft and acidic, whereas livebearers such as swordtails and mollies prefer harder more alkaline water long-term.

My tank is 30 inches long by 18 inches high by 12 inches wide.
