jungle parasite clear dosage?

Post by libingboy » Fri Mar 24, 2006 9:09 pm

i finally got my hands on jungle parasite clear. This is my only option for internal parasites, since levasimole hydrochloride is considered a controlled substance in singapore (cannot order it online), and ordering ultracare px would take quite a while to arrive.

i dont have any loaches showing "Wasting away" disease yet, but would like to medicate it just once.

the recommended dosage is 1 tablet per 10 gallons, i plan to slightly underdose it. (3 tablets for 40 gallons - i plan to lower the water level slightly). Will this cause the med to lose its effectiveness? according to jungle labs' customer service (and a few anecdotes on the web), full dosage is not a problem with clown loaches.

the box states that treatment can be repeated up to 2 times with 48 hours between treatments and a 25% water change. for anchor worms and fish lice, repeat treatment up to 3 times, using once a week with a 25$ water change.

what type of treatment should i go for? there are no signs of external parasites on the loaches, so far.

I would treat as you described once, (remove carbon if you use it in your filter) and observe their behavior. If they have no problems do the second treatment. If you see no evidence of external parasites, I'd skip the 3rd.

Water change between doses, and when done water change again and add carbon to the filter to remove the remaining medication.
